TEHRAN - Russia is ready to improve Iran’s current nuclear centrifuges for creating stable uranium isotopes, Iran’s nuclear chief announced on Wednesday.

Ali Akbar Salehi, director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), said the arrangement was made between him and Rosatom chief Sergey Kiriyenko in Moscow.

“In this meeting, we discussed cooperation within a clear framework and in line with the BARJAM,” he said, referring to the JCPOA by its Persian name.

“It had been agreed among the 5+1 members that Russia would help us in buying enriched fuel and also giving us natural fuel. Therefore we discussed when and how to give them enriched uranium and how to receive natural uranium from them.”

Salehi pointed out to Russia as a leading country in producing stable uranium isotopes, adding that Russian officials have said they are ready to help Iran in the production of stable isotopes.

Russia plans to build two more nuclear powers plants at Bushehr, southern Iran.

Salehi said Russia has agreed to provide the necessary fund for the two projects.

Salehi also invited Kiriyenko to Iran to attend the brick-laying ceremony of the two power plants.
