TEHRAN - The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has said that Iran’s naval operations will not be limited to the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

“We will make optimal use of the sea in any confrontation or strategic interaction,” SNSC Secretary Saeed Jalili said during an address to a conference on the Iranian Navy, which was held in Tehran on Monday.
Naval power is a strategic necessity, he stated, adding that the realization of the country’s full naval potential will reduce the threats posed from the sea.
He went on to say that no country can or should undermine Iran’s interests since the Islamic Republic itself opposes any act which violates other countries’ rights.
Commenting on U.S. policies on Iran, he said the United States has failed in its policy of confrontation with Iran.
Iranian Navy will expand its operations in Sea Of Oman
Iran’s Navy will pay more attention to the Sea of Oman, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said in his address to the conference.
“The support of the Persian Gulf is the Sea of Oman,” which is the route for Navy warships to international waters, he stated.
“We should utilize the resources of the Sea of Oman since this sea is a treasure,” he added
