Iran to showcase ECO countries’ handicrafts

TEHRAN -- Member countries of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) will hold a cultural week in Iran.

The historic and picturesque site Beshqardash, located in North Khorasan province, will host the event that will begin September 11.
Handicrafts from the participant countries will go on display during the event, the deputy for Traditional Art and Handicraft at the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) Tahmineh Daniali mentioned in a press release.
“We expect the cooperation of the North Khorsan governor and the head of CHTHO department in holding this event,” she added.
She expressed her hope that this international program would attract worldwide attention to Iranian handicrafts and she also said that the Iranian stand would offer handicrafts which bear the stamp of UNESCO.
“We tried our best to invite World Craft Council President Usha Krishna for the event. Iran intends to propose holding this program biennially for the member countries,” he added.
Artists from the member countries have been invited to participate in the event, she concluded.
