TEHRAN – Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi has announced that Iran plans to unveil a number of space and missile projects during the Ten-Day Dawn celebrations (February 1-11) marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

“These projects have important role in enhancing the country’s defense capabilities,” Vahidi said on Sunday.
In recent years Iran has made significant progresses in producing missiles and military equipment.
Iran says its military capabilities are only meant for defense and do not pose threat to any country. The Islamic Republic maintains there is no need for the presence of foreign troops in the region, insisting that regional countries themselves should maintain regional security.

During his visit to Shahid Tamjidi Shipbuilding Company in the northern city of Bandar Anzali, Vahidi also underscored the need for designing comprehensive naval programs and drawing up plans for building commercial and passenger ships and repairing vessels inside the country.
He added expansion of the country’s naval fleet is on the administration’s agenda.
The defense minister also commented on the security in the Caspian Sea, saying the littoral countries can maintain security in the sea through cooperation.
He also emphasized that Iran has good relationship with all Caspian Sea states.
