TEHRAN – MP Hossein Ebrahimi has said that the Western governments are supporting the Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) to mount pressure on Iran.
“Trying to remove the name of the monafeqin (MKO) from the list of terrorists is the last struggle of the U.S. and Europe against Iran,” Ebrahimi told the Mehr News Agency on Sunday. “They are seeking to use this terrorist group for spying on Iran and spreading false news about Iran.”The MKO members are known as monafequin (hypocrites) in Iran.
“The European countries have shown that these days they resort to every means to put Iran under pressure,” said Ebrahimi, the deputy head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee.
Ebrahimi has made the remarks in response to the recent European Union’s action in support of the MKO.
On Thursday, the European Parliament issued a declaration urging Washington to remove the MKO from its list of foreign terrorist organizations. The European Union removed the MKO off its black list in 2009.
Ebrahimi also said the Westerners have decided to sponsor this terrorist group against Iran, because they have realized that sanctions and threats against Iran are ineffective.
