TEHRAN – An informed source at Iran’s Foreign Ministry has expressed surprise over a move by Gambia to cut ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The government of the small West African nation has so far given no reason for closing its embassy in Tehran and cutting ties with Iran. The measure seems to have been taken under foreign pressure.
The source also said Tehran had no embassy in Gambia except for a representative office.
The informed source said Iran has established good ties with African states and this measure will have no effect on Tehran’s relations with African nations
