Tehran to host nanotech conference

The 3rd national festival on nanotechnology will be held at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds from October 25-29.

""Iran ranks fourteenth in the world when it comes to nanotechnology products,"" Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Nasrin Soltankhah said.
""Nanotechnology plays a great role in the development of other scientific fields such as physics, chemistry, energy and agriculture. Nanotechnology has resulted in the formation of new links between different sciences,"" she added.
The Iranian official pointed out that courses in nanophysics and nanochemistry have also been established in the country. Iran ranks first in the Muslim world in terms of nanotechnology production.
""We have also established faculties and research institutes in nanotechnology. This technology has resulted in numerous advances in different scientific fields,"" she added.
Soltankhah further noted that nanotechnology products have much better quality and last longer.
""Nanotechnology products are more environmental-friendly,"" she went on to say.
She added that only three countries in the world, including Iran, have a national scheme in nanotechnology.
""We entered the domain of nanotechnology activities in early 2000s. At that time, a nanotechnology strategic program was approved at the Supreme Council for Cultural Revolution,"" she concluded.
