Technical and engineering exports up 170%

TEHRAN -- Iran exported $412 million worth of technical and engineering services in the first two months of Iranian calendar year (ended May 21), an official with the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran said here on Saturday.

IRNA News Agency quoted Mohammad-Hassan Mahdipour as saying that, “The Figure shows a 170 percent increase in comparison to its preceding year’s figure of $150 million.”
Noting that Iran eyes a 10 percent increase in the annual value of technical and engineering services exports, he went on to say that, “we plan to reach the figure of $3.3 billion by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2011).”
It is estimated that by the end of Iran’s Fifth Socio-Economic Development Plan (2010–15) the value of the nation’s technical and engineering services exports will reach $20 million.
Iran exported $3,175 million worth of technical and engineering services in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 20).
In the previous Iranian calendar year 58 contracts have been signed with 21 countries around the world.
Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Kazakhstan, and Lebanon respectively were the top 6 importers of Iranian technical and engineering services
