TEHRAN – Iran exported some 598,000 tons of foodstuff worth $940 million in the fist ten months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2009), the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran’s deputy director said here on Tuesday.

The Islamic Republic of Iran News Network quoted Fathollah Kermanshahi as saying that, the amount showed 18 percent increase in terms of value and 25 percent decrease in terms of volume compared to the same period in previous year.
“It is estimated that the nation’s foodstuff export will hit $1 billion by the end of the year,” he added.
Candy, confectionary, dairy products, tomato paste, fruit juice and concentrate, mineral water, and macaroni are among the major exported items.
Kermanshahi also named Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Turkey, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Syria as the main destinations for the Iranian-made foodstuffs
