Industrial, mineral exports surpass $12b

TEHRAN – Over $12 billion worth of industrial and mineral products were exported from Iran in the first nine months of the current calendar year (began March 21, 2009).
The Ministry of Industry and Mines reported that mineral products worth $3.72 billion comprised most of the exported goods.Iraq, China, the UAE, India and Afghanistan were the major export destinations, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) reported.
Meanwhile, Iran exported $15.3 billion worth of mineral and industrial products in its last calendar year (ended March 20), the public relations department of the Ministry of Industries and Mines reported.
The exports grew by 5 percent in weight and 25 percent in value compared to the year that ended in March 2008, the report said.
Industrial and mineral exports accounted for 84.3 percent of the country’s total non-oil exports, IRNA reported.
Chemical products valued at some $4.4 billion comprised 28.6 percent of the industrial and mineral exports, showing a 56.7 percent growth over the figure for the previous year.
The country also exported over $2.5 billion worth of technical-engineering services in the year to March 2009.
Iran’s total value of exports in the last calendar year shows a 24.8 percent rise over the figure in its preceding year
