TEHRAN – National Prosecutor General Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei has said the Judiciary will not condone the use of violence by those who have risen in rebellion against the Islamic system and Velayate Faghih (divinely inspired clerical rule).

Commenting on the pro-government demonstrations on Wednesday, Mohseni-Ejei said people gave a firm response to those who targeted national interests and security.
Last Wednesday, Iranians staged marches throughout the country to protest against the anti-government riots in Tehran on December 27 and chanted slogans in support of the Islamic Republic and against its opponents.
The demonstrators called for a severe punishment of rioters especially their leaders and therefore the Judiciary is determined to deal with the culprits as soon as possible, Mohseni-Ejei told reporters on Monday.
Mohseni-Ejei said that based on Sharia (Islamic law), those who have risen against the rightful Imam and Velayate Faghih should face capital punishment.
These people, who have caused panic and intimidated the Islamic nation, are enemies of God, and based on law and Sharia they should be executed, he asserted.
“Certainly we deal with them based on the law and Sharia; there will be no mercy,” he emphasized.
On the fate of the detainees, he announced that those who were arrested during the Ashura unrest in Tehran are currently under interrogation and their files will soon be submitted to the court to put them on the trial.
The court will hear defendants’ cases fairly and within the framework of law, he added
