TEHRAN - Twenty-nine people, including five senior commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, were killed in a suicide bombing in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan on Sunday.

Iranian authorities believe the terrorist group Jundullah was responsible for the incident.
The attack took place in the city of Pishin, near the border with Pakistan.
A number of local elders were also killed in the suicide bombing and over 30 people were injured.
The IRGC commanders were on their way to a meeting with local elders of the Shia and Sunni communities when the terrorists carried out the attack.
IRGC Ground Forces Deputy Commander Nour-Ali Shoushtari and Sistan-Baluchestan Province IRGC Commander Rajab-Ali Mohammadzadeh were among those who lost their lives in the attack.
Shortly after the attack, the IRGC issued a statement saying that foreigners were involved in the terrorist operation and the attack was meant to foment strife between Shias and Sunnis.
Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said that the United States is implicated in the deadly attack.
“We consider the recent terrorist attack to be the result of U.S. action. This is a sign of the United States’ animosity toward our country,” he stated.
Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi said here on Sunday that the U.S. is the main supporter of terrorist groups that carry out operations in Iran.
The U.S. has long supported Jundullah in order to undermine the close relations between the IRGC and people, he noted.
The Majlis will be sending a committee to Sistan-Baluchestan Province to investigate the incident, Boroujerdi added
