TEHRAN - Britain sought to sabotage the Iranian presidential election through agents who it sent to Iran posing as ordinary tourists, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Sunday.

“We witnessed an influx of people (from Britain) before the election. Elements linked to the British secret service were flying in in droves,” Mottaki told a group of foreign diplomats.
He called on Britain to stop interfering in Iran’s internal affairs, saying its officials must realize that the expression “the sun never sets on the British Empire” is no longer true.
Mottaki also said the world’s nations, particularly those in the Middle East, know that Britain helped give birth to the Zionist regime and is behind the conflicts and insecurity in the Middle East region.
He went on to say that Britain is trying to convince the 5+1 group (Britain, France, the United States, Russia, China, and Germany) to take a harder line on Iran’s nuclear program, adding that it also arranged about 250 speeches presented in the United States meant to encourage President Barack Obama to alter his approach toward Iran.
Mottaki denounced certain Western governments and Western media outlets for their hasty reactions toward Iran’s presidential election and asked them to revise their attitude toward events in Iran.
For example, France is a great nation, although today they have to put up with a group of political lightweights who are “auctioning off” the French Revolution’s achievements, he said.
Mottaki also stated that Germany’s leaders are hostage to the Zionists’ terrorist policies, saying their country has been implementing policies in tandem with Tel Aviv.
Germany’s support for terrorism, for example the attack on the Iranian Embassy in Germany, means it is in no position to express views on Iran’s transparent election, he added.
