Chahbahar Handles 401,000 Tons of Goods

CHAHBAHAR, Sistan- Baluchestan Prov. More than 401,000 tons of goods have been loaded-unloaded in the port of Chahbahar since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started March, 21), said the director general of the provincial shipping organization Habib Raoufi here Wednesday. He told IRNA that the goods including oil based materials, wheat and rice arrived at the port on 171 cargo boats.
He said that the cargo arriving at the port has been running 40 percent below the amount in the corresponding period last year, adding that there has not been any exports of goods from Chahbahar in the same period. He did not elaborate further. To better protect the loading-unloading of goods from the weather related damages, a 3,000 meter breakwater is being constructed at the port, Rauofi said.
