Iran petchem exports hit $440m in month: report

TEHRAN -- Iran has exported $440 million worth of petrochemical products in the Iranian calendar month of Ordibehesht (April 21 to May 21), according to a report released by Iran Petrochemical Commercial Company.
The volume of petrochemical exports reached 902,000 tons in the mentioned period, the Mehr News Agency reported.Methanol, polyethylene, butadiene, ethylene dichloride, and ethylene were the main export-bound petrochemical products, the report says.
Japan, the United Arab Emirates, China, India, Italy, Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea were the main export destinations for the Iranian petrochemical products.
Iran exported $7.1 billion worth of petrochemical products in the past Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2009).
The country produced 29.7 million tons of petrochemical products in the last (Iranian) calendar year and the figure is predicted to touch 39 million tons in the current year.
