Bahraini king stresses convergence with Iran

TEHRAN (IRNA) – Bahriani King Hamad bin Issa al-Khalifa said on Tuesday that Tehran-Manama friendly relations guarantee regional tranquility, stability and prosperity.

He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki who arrived in the Bahraini capital on Monday on the third leg of his regional tour which had already taken him to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
He reiterated that Manama’s policy is based on convergence with Tehran, adding that the two countries enjoy good neighborly relations.
Bahrain will never let foreign countries make use of it as a means to interfere in the regional domestic affairs, the King said.
Mottaki, for his part, stressed that the two countries’ leaders are determined to further boost all-out ties, adding that Tehran-Manama relations witnessed a boost in cultural, political, economic and security areas in the past four years.
Underlining the need for safeguarding the regional stability and security, he said the security of Bahrain and all Persian Gulf states is security of the Islamic Republic.
The Iranian foreign minister reiterated that his visit to Bahrain was aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation and holding regional consultations in order to solve the existing regional problems.
Nothing can damage Iran-Bahrain ties: PM
Bahriani Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa told Mottaki that nothing can damage Tehran-Manama ties.
In a meeting on Tuesday, the Bahraini premier said that Manama’s policy is based on convergence with Tehran, adding that the two countries enjoy good neighborly relations.
He added that the two nations enjoy ancient, amicable and consolidated relations in all areas.
The Bahraini PM reiterated that expansion of bilateral relations between the two states is to the interest of both nations as well as the entire region.
“We would not let enemy damage the existing amicable ties between the two nations,” he added.
Expansion of all-out ties among regional states would help solve the existing problems facing the regional states, Sheikh Khalifa reiterated.
He further referred to the Islamic Republic as a powerful country which supports all regional states.
For his part, Mottaki said the two nations have always enjoyed brotherly relations based on mutual respect.
He underlined the need for settlement of the existing issues through regional consultations and peaceful talks.
Mottaki reiterated that consolidation of unity and solidarity among Islamic states would disappoint enemies.
