Iran to establish museum for Prof. Samii

TEHRAN -- Iran is to establish a museum for the distinguished Iranian neurosurgeon and medical scientist Professor Majid Samii at the Sadabad Cultural Historical Complex.

“The impressive background of Iran in the field of medicine and the great achievements the Professor has made us try to preserve these efforts,” Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) Public Relation’s Office manager Reza Musavi said.
He added, “Presently, a committee of surgeons and specialists has been formed and member of the parliament, Omidvar Rezaii, is on the committee as the representative of Prof. Samii.
“As the first step, the committee will collect all research, articles and all awards of Prof. Samii in the national and international fields,” he remarked.
He also mentioned that books, articles, notes on surgeries performed, and other great achievements of Samii will be put on display at the museum.
Prof. Samii received the highest Chinese award, “Friendship Award” from Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao for his contribution to the medical progress of China in 2007.
Samii chairs the International Neuroscience Institute (INI) in Germany and is the director of the Municipal Clinic for Neurosurgery in Hanover.
He was born in Rasht, Gilan Province, in 1937 and received his professorial degree in neurosurgery at the age of 33.
