Benazir Bhutto commemorated in ceremonies in Tehran

TEHRAN - A memorial ceremony was held at the Cultural Hall of the Pakistan Embassy in Tehran on December 27 to commemorate the first anniversary of the martyrdom of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, the embassy said in a press release.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador M. B. Abbasi described December 27 as a sad day in the history of Pakistan. He paid tribute to the leadership of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, adding that she was a leader of international fame and repute.
The ambassador highlighted her political struggle and services for the country and the nation, and then asked the participants to observe two minutes of silence as a sign of respect for the late leader. Later, prayers and Fateha were offered for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
A separate ceremony was held at the Pakistan International School of Tehran, where Quran Khwani was held for the departed soul of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. The students of the school delivered speeches paying homage to Ms. Bhutto, and a documentary film on her life was screened
