Oman continues gas talks with Iran

Oman has yet to reach an agreement with Iran on the importation of over 3 billion cubic feet of gas per day but says talks will continue.
Omani Minister of Oil and Gas Mohammad bin Hamad bin Seif al-Rumhy announced Monday that the two countries have not yet reached a final agreement over the gas deal it seeks to finalize.Iran and Oman agreed in April to jointly invest and develop the Iranian Kish gas field. According to sources, the proposed deal will see Iran’s gas exported to Oman’s LNG plant at Qalhat.
The Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) announced earlier that Oman would submit its final proposal on the deal this month.
According to a Iranian Petroleum Petroenergy Information Network (PIN) interview with IOOC Managing Director Mahmoud Zirakchianzadeh, Tehran-Muscat negotiations may result in the finalization of a deal by March 2009.
