TEHRAN – Hassan Rowhani, head of the Strategic Research Center at the Expediency Council, stated he has not yet arrived at a definitive decision on presidential candidacy for the next year.

“I have not arrived at a decision for candidacy yet, and as for Mr. Khatami ask (he) himself,” he said in a dinner banquet with reporters on Wednesday night.
There have been speculations about the candidacy of Rowhani in the upcoming elections. Moderation and Development Party chief Mohammad-Baqer Nobakht had said his party will support Rowhani if runs for the presidential post.
Nobakht told the Mehr News Agency published on September 14 that Rowhani can represent the views of the “moderate” reformists and conservatives in the presidential campaign, thus he is “preferably welcomed by the Justice and Development Party.”
Presidential elections will be held on June 12, 2009.
