TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Iraqi President Jalal Talabani will demand freedom of Iranian businessman Mahmud Farhadi detained by American troops in Iraq in his meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush today.

The Iraqi Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) envoy in Iran Nazem Dabbagh told IRNA on Sunday that a number of Iraqi Kurdish traders have in a letter urged freedom of Farhadi, the official in charge of commercial transactions between Iran's western Kermanshah province and Iraq.
""Mr. Talabani is to submit the letter to the U.S. President tomorrow,"" said Dabbagh.
He said Farhadi's arrest has left negative impact on Kurdistan region and on the living conditions of regional people, provoking Iran's reaction.
Farhadi along with a trade delegation had traveled to Iraqi Suleymaniya upon an invitation of governor general of Iraqi Kurdistan province on September 17.
The U.S. troops stormed Farhadi's residence at Palas Hotel overnight on September 19 and kidnapped him.
