Iran to head G15 water management working group

TEHRAN – Iran is tipped to preside the integrated management system of water resources, deputy energy minister for water affairs announced here Wednesday.

After the G15 meeting, Rassul Zargar said, “At the end of long and challenging talks, participating deputy ministers and water and agriculture officials reached an agreement on five issues.”
Zargar pointed to establishment of an information network to exchange experiences and an integrated water management working group by the member states chaired by Iran, among the issues.
Founding a financing mechanism for research and executive plans by the working group, agreement on attendance of the water working group in international and regional assemblies, and rural development come also among the issues concurred in the meeting.
“A final report of the meeting will be delivered to the assembly of the water and agriculture ministers of G15,” Zargar added.
G15 three-day meeting on water resources management and rural and agricultural development with 45 attendees ended September 4, in Tehran
