TEHRAN -- The people of Uzbekistan are celebrating the anniversary of their independence by the screening of a number of Iranian films in cinemas in Tashkent and Samarkand.

“In the Name of the Father”, “So Close, So Far”, “Twilight”, “We Are All Good”, “The Weeping Willow”, “Baran”, “A Piece of Bread”, and “Atal Matal Tutuleh” are scheduled to be shown during the four-day program, which began yesterday.
“The films will be dubbed into Uzbek simultaneously with their screening and we hope the program will be helpful for the audience,” said Iranian cultural attaché in Uzbekistan and organizer of the project, Mohammad Hossein.
Uzbekistan was formerly the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) from 1924 until 1991, when it gained its independence.
