TEHRAN -- Women-only summer tours, within a framework of low-cost tours, are to be held this summer, Roghiyeh Hatami-pour, a women-only tour operator told Mehr News Agency (MNA) here last week.

The tours aim at making the most of women’s leisure time and providing an opportunity for interaction and communication between the women of the Province of Tehran. The one or two-day pilgrimages to the holy cities of Mashhad and Qom and recreational tours to the cities of Hamedan and Mahalat, which were organized in the spring, were warmly welcomed by the women of Tehran, she said. Tours will be extended in the summer with better programming, she added. Women make up half of our population and 15 million of them are housewives who spend all their time doing housework and attending to family affairs which can cause boredom and fatigue. These trips help homemakers to revitalize themselves and thus have more energy in their spare time, Hatami-pour maintained. Organizing such tours plays an important role in the development of low-cost excursions and helps promote the culture of tourism within the society, she stressed. These trips are guided by a woman tour leader and accompanied by a specialist in women’s affairs. MZ/MA
