Irish Dragon Completes First Iran Caspian Oil Swap
August 1, 1998 - 0:0
LONDON - Irish oil company Dragon said on Thursday it had completed the first crude oil swap by a commercial company operating in the Caspian with the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). Dragon said the tanker Captain Permyakov discharged a cargo of Cheleken blend crude oil at Iran's Caspian Port Neka exported from Dragon's operations in the Turkmenistan portion of the Caspian Sea. Dragon signed a long-term swap agreement with Iran in March. Deliveries of crude under the agreement entitle Dragon to lift an equal quantity of Iranian light crude oil from NIOC in the Persian Gulf. Dragon has a 50 percent interest in the Cheleken joint venture on block two offshore Turkmenistan where it is also engaged in development of the Lam and Zhadanov Oil and Gas Fields. (Reuter)
