Lebanese MP Hariri: Boosting Iran-Lebanon ties, a must

BEIRUT (IRNA) -- Head of majority faction in Lebanese Parliament Saad al-Hariri here on Thursday underlined the importance of expanding cooperation between his country and Iran.

In a meeting on Thursday with Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Mohammad Reza Sheibani, he called for further strengthening of two-way relations during their deliberations on the latest developments in the region. They reportedly discussed the recent war in Lebanon and its consequences.

The two sides referred to the unity of the Lebanese people as the most important factor in repulsing the Zionist incursion and stressed on unity as the only way through which the reconstruction of the devastated country should be materialized.

In the meeting, Sheibani presented a report on a recent visit of a high-ranking Iranian delegation to Lebanon and expressed Iran's readiness to actively contribute to reconstruction work in Lebanon.

An Iranian delegation headed by Vice-President for executive affairs Ali Saeedloo visited Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday this week for talks with Lebanese officials.
