TEHRAN -- The Dutch laureate Driek van Wissen, who attended Iran-Netherlands Poetry Session last week, paid tribute to Iran’s outstanding poet Hafez at his mausoleum in Shiraz, capital of southern province of Fars, Sunday.

Wissen placing a wreath of Dutch flowers on his tomb said a visit to the mausoleum of Hafez was among his trip’s objectives.

“It is a great honor for me to show the Iranian nation that the Persian poetry is highly respected all over the world and the people of the Netherlands are much interested in the cultural heritage of Iran,” he noted.

Iran-Netherlands Poetry Session was held at the National Library and Documents Organization of Iran, northern Tehran, on June 14.

Driek van Wissen became familiar with several Iranian poets, including Qeisar Aminpur, Mohammadreza Abdolmalekian, Soheil Mahmudi, Fatemeh Rakei, and Saed Baqeri.
