TEHRAN (PIN) – Managing director of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) noted that drilling well No. 307 at Khami layer of Ahvaz oil field, which is one of the biggest oil fields in the Middle East, has been finished.

Heidar Bahmani added that geological studies have indicated existence of remarkable oil and gas resources in Khami reservoir, which contains Darian, Godvan, and Fahlian formations.

The official said that before the revolution, two exploration drillings were carried out on the field, but high pressure and conditions of reservoir aborted those studies.

Bahmani stated that National Iranian Oil Company has taken appropriate measures in cooperation with National Iranian Drilling Company including installation of super-heavy drilling rig, Pirouz.

“Well No. 307 enjoyed very high pressure and its reserves will be accurately determined through future studies,’ he added.
