MSOGPC intensifies efforts to prevent associated gas flaring

TEHRAN — Esmaeil Farhadian, the managing director of Masjed Soleiman Oil and Gas Production Company (MSOGPC) told ISNA on Tuesday the company has produced 111,000 barrels oil from March 21 to April 20.

In the same period, the company produced 170 million cu. feet sour gas which was sent to the petrochemical industries of Mahshahr, Khuzestan Province, via the pipeline.

The managing director further named the projects for prevention of flaring gas in Masjed Soleiman as drilling new wells, acidizing wells, coupled with the projects for collecting the associated gases and re-injecting them to the reservoirs. He added that implementation of these projects would prevent flaring 100 million cu. feet gas per day.

Also in his remarks, Farhadian referred to the projects currently underway by the company, naming them as collecting the associated gases in the oilfields of Lab-Sefid, Qal’eh-Naar, Lali, Zilaii, Karun, Haftgel, Naft-Sefid, Masjed Soleiman, and Par-Siah.

According to him construction of desalination units in Masjed Soleiman would prevent flaring the associated gases and condensates.

Elaborating on the renovation projects of the company, the managing director stated that development project of Masjed Soleiman reservoir is currently underway. The Chinese CNPCI Company has conducted the comprehensive studies of the project, he noted, adding, presently the deck is being equipped in order to drill the first well.

The official explained that the project includes drilling 10 horizontal wells, installing in-well electrical pumps, and setting up the related pipelines, as well as operation, desalination, and pressure-boosting units.

He added that the project is due to come on stream within the next three years, aimed at producing 20,000 barrels oil per day.

In the last Iranian year (started March 21, 2005), Farhadian said, the company produced 40 million barrels oil and 100 billion cu, feet gas. A great portion of the produced oil was sent to Abadan Refinery and Kharg Oil Terminal, he added.

Concluding his remarks, he named the company’s daily production as 112,000 barrels oil and 350 million cu. feet gas 170 million cu. feet of which is sent to Razi Petrochemical Complex, in Mahshahr as the feed.
