BUENOS AIRES (IRNA) -- Iranian Vice-President Fatemeh Javadi and Chilean President Michelle Bachelet on Friday underlined the participation of women in society, saying it was a primary necessity.

The two officials, at the meeting, stressed expansion of bilateral relations in regional and international fields.

The Chilean president noted that female officials in Chile exerted their utmost in order to accord women their deserved social status in the country.

She also termed as "significant" the level of cooperation in the mine and mineral fields in particular, saying her country was ready to make use of Iran's experiences in the field of oil.

Iran's Javadi, at the meeting, expressed her satisfaction with Bachelet's victory in Chile's presidential election held last December.

She expressed hope the growing bilateral relations would continue during the office of Bachelet.

Javadi also invited the Chilean president to pay an official visit to Iran.

The first female president of Chile was sworn in to begin her tenure after the inauguration ceremony on Saturday.

The Republic of Chile is a long, narrow country lying along the Pacific coast of South America, extending from Peru and Bolivia in the north to Cape Horn in the far south. The population is over 15 million. The capital is Santiago.
