Energy Ministry ready to purchase renewable energies from private sector producers

TEHRAN — Mohsen Bakhtiar, an official in Ministry of Energy announced on Tuesday the readiness of the ministry for guaranteed purchasing of the renewable energies from the private sector producers.

According to an article in the government bill, the Ministry of Energy is tasked to purchase the electricity generated by the private sector out of the renewable energies at the guaranteed price, he explained.

“The bill is aimed to support the production of the renewable energies coupled with encouraging the non-governmental sector to invest in development of these energies,” he added.

Bakhtiar further explained that the Renewable Energies Organization of Iran has so far received certain demands from the private sector producers in this regard. The whole demands are equal with the production of 550 MW of electricity.

He noted that six demands have been so far admitted, whose total production stands at 250 MW. He added that the contracts will be soon made with their producers.

The official further said that the six projects include three wind power plants and three power generation from the bio-mass, and will be carried out in the provinces of Gilan and Khorasan.

In conclusion, Bakhtiari further stressed the measure is an appropriate opportunity for the Iranian and foreign investors of the private sector to participate in developing the renewable energies.
