China Ready to Cooperate With Iran to Create Jobs

YAZD (IRNA) -- Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Lio G. Tan said here Saturday that his country is ready to cooperate with Iran on implementation of small- and medium-size projects in order to create employment in Iran.

In a meeting with Yazd Governor General Hamid Kalantari, Lio said Yazd province enjoys special status in the country in the field of economy, adding grounds for China's cooperation in this central province have been prepared.

The ambassador noted that Iran is among major suppliers of oil to China and said the volume of trade between Iran and China stood at $4 billion during last year, which would reach $5 billion this year.

He added that China imports some $300-400 million worth of goods from Iran annually and voiced China's determination to purchase more products from Iran.

Kalantari, for his part, said that Iran is ready to establish ties with countries that seek peace and friendship among all nations.

He also called for China's cooperation and investment in clothing, steel and metals industries.
