Iran’s Mirzazadeh seizes gold at 2025 World Wrestling Championships

TEHRAN – Amin Mirzazadeh of Iran claimed a gold medal at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships on Friday.
He defeated Dárius Vitek of Hungary 7-2 in the final bout of 130kg.
Mirzazadeh started the campaign with a 8-0 win over Marko Koščević in Round of 16, and then defeated Greek Elias Kuosmanen 4-3 in quarterfinals. Mirzazadeh also defeated Jiang Wenhao of China 3-1 in semifinals.
Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers Payam Ahmadi in 55kg and Gholamreza Farrokhi in 82kg had previously won a silver and a gold medal in the world championships, respectively.
The 2025 World Wrestling Championships are being held in Zagreb, Croatia from Sept. 13 to 21.
