TEHRAN- The recent “indiscriminate and spiteful” terrorist strike in Kerman, southeast Iran, according to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), was an unsuccessful attempt to sow discord throughout the nation.

The IRGC denounced Wednesday’s two terrorist attacks, which killed 84 people and injured 284 others, some of whom were in critical condition, in a statement issued on Thursday. The death toll is anticipated to grow, according to medics.

The twin explosions took place near the burial site of Iran’s late anti-terror commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani in Kerman during a ceremony marking his fourth martyrdom anniversary.

According to the IRGC, the terrorist act was carried out as payback for General Soleimani’s great regard among the Iranian people, especially the courageous younger generation.

It served as a warning to the cowardly adversaries that General Soleimani’s path would be passionately followed by the Iranian people, preventing them from accomplishing their nefarious objectives.

The statement added the heinous terrorist bombings showed that the enemies are unable to compensate for the defeats they had suffered by General Soleimani.

Terrorist attacks demonstrate brutality of Islam enemies

The Iranian Army also condemned the terrorist attack in Kerman, which murdered innocent citizens, including women and children, in a statement on Thursday.

“This act of terrorism, which killed a group of innocent people, shows the brutality and savage nature of the enemies of Islam and the Islamic establishment,” it noted.

The terrorist acts, it said, further demonstrated the adversaries’ animosity and hostility toward the honorable Iranian people.

The Iranian Army stressed that the heinous act will not weaken the Iranian people’s will and desire to combat terrorism, but will instead strengthen their cohesion and solidarity.

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi stated on Wednesday that although terrorist activities are seen by some as a means of achieving their illegal objectives, the country has proven that cohesiveness, security, and strategy cannot be undermined by such acts.
