TEHRAN - Vital Heynen and Stephane Antiga have been reportedly shortlisted to take charge of Iran national volleyball team.

Team Melli have almost missed the chance to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games following poor results in Pool A underway in Rio de Janeiro.

Behrouz Ataei has stepped down from his role and the team is leading by his assistant Alireza Toloukian at the moment.

The local media reports suggest that Belgian coach Heynen and French trainer Antiga, who have previously led Poland, are nominated to head Iran.

Under Ataei’s guidance, Iran clinched the gold medal in both the 2021 Asian Championship and the 2022 Asian Games, and silver in Asian Championship 2023.
