TEHRAN – Head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Alireza Peyman-Pak has said trade between Iran and Oman increased by 70 percent in the first seven months of the current year (March 21-October 22), as compared to the same period last year.

Peyman-Pak made the remarks in a meeting with Saleh bin Said Masan, Oman’s Deputy Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, in Tehran on Wednesday, the TPO portal reported.

Speaking in this meeting, Peyman-Pak said boosting trade with Oman is one of the business priorities of the Iranian government.

“The diplomacy of the 13th government led to a 53 percent growth in trade with Oman in [the Iranian calendar] year 1400 (March 2021-March 2022) compared to [the year] 1399, and in the last seven months, the trade between the two countries has grown by 70 percent compared to last year,” the official said.

He considered Oman to be one of Iran’s five main trading partners among the country’s neighbors and added: “The continuation of the current trend will definitely increase exports to and imports from Oman.”

The TPO head also mentioned the presence of Iranian companies in Oman exhibitions and requested the presence of Omani companies and businessmen in Iran’s exhibitions.

Further in the meeting, Masan for his part called Iran a brotherly country and added: “In previous meetings we talked about how to solve trade problems between the two countries [and thanks to the recent developments] today we are discussing how to develop trade.”
