| Iranian lifter wins silver in World Junior Championships |

![]() Iran’s Majid Askari claimed the silver medal in the men's 56kg of the World Junior Weightlifting Championships on Thursday.
Li Fabin from China won the gold medal by lifting 124kg in the snatch, 151kg in the clean and jerk and 275kg overall.
Iranian Majid Askari hoisted 123kg in the snatch and 150kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 273kg.
“I could have won the gold, but one wrong lift cost me the first place. However, I am so happy to better my country’s record in the event,” Askari said.
Vietnam’s Thach Kim Tuan took bronze by lifting 120kg in the snatch, 153kg in the clean and jerk and 273kg in total.
The 37th Men and 17th Women World Junior Weightlifting Championships have brought more than 300 weightlifters from 76 countries together at the Penang International Sports Arena (PISA) in Malaysia.
