Carlos Queiroz’s men will play Saudi Arabia in their first game on Sunday.
“Our objective is to introduce a mew generation of the Iranian football. Iran football needs fresh blood and we can find new faces and we will use the competition to prepare the team for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers,” Queiroz said.
“This is a good opportunity for our young players to show their potential. This kind of competitions will help us to play the players, who have no experience,” the former Real Madrid coach added.
The 2012 WAFF Championship will be the 7th West Asian Football Federation Championship, an international tournament for selected West Asian countries. It will be hosted by Kuwait from December 8 to 20. A total of 11 teams divided into two groups of four teams and one group of 3.
