Majid Farzin won Iran’s 10th medal at 2012 Paralympic Games

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_edim_13_2(6).jpgIranian athlete Majid Farzin has won the gold medal of the Men's -82.5-kilogram category of the powerlifting competition of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
 
Farzin managed to lift 237 kilograms in his third and last attempt to earn the gold. He has successfully lifted 233 and 235 kilograms in his two previous tries.
 
Gu Xiao Fei of china won the silver with 228 kilograms and Metwaly Mathana of Egypt finished third with 227 kilograms.
 
Mathana was the favorite among the lifters. He was looking for his fourth consecutive Paralympic gold medal having also won silver in Atlanta in 1996 but just managed to get the bronze.
 
Farzin won Iran’s 10th medal at 2012 Paralympic Games. Earlier on Tuesday Abdolreza Jokar won silver in men's javelin throw F52/53 class and Zahra Nemati won the gold medal in women's individual W1/W2 class event.
