“Our enemies should be aware that the Islamic ummah is not afraid of martyrdom and should be sure that this move will stiffen our nation’s resistance and will strengthen their resolve against Israel… The enemies should be aware that we will take (Shateri’s) revenge on the Israelis, and the enemies are not able to silence the Iranian nation by such stupid moves,” Hojjatoleslam Ali Shirazi said.
The head of the public relations department of the IRGC, Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif, announced on Thursday that Shateri had been killed by elements affiliated with the Zionist regime while traveling from Syria to Lebanon.
Shateri was in charge of the Iranian committee for the reconstruction of Lebanon that was established after the war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006.
Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani also said on Saturday that the assassination of the general would not prompt the Iranian people to withdraw support for the Lebanese nation.
