An informed source at the Foreign Ministry has said that the claim by Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur al-Hadi that Yemen has uncovered six Iranian spy networks is completely baseless.
He said that Yemen has provided no evidence to prove the claim.
Commenting on the problems facing the Yemeni government, the source said that Sana’a is trying to receive “financial and political support” from the West through making such accusations against Tehran.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said, “It was expected that the new officials of Yemen do not follow the wrong path of the former officials… but unfortunately, it is seen that some of the officials are doing so.”
The policy that former Yemeni officials had adopted toward bilateral relations was not effective, Amir-Abdollahian said, adding that making unfounded accusations not only harms Iran-Yemen relations but prepares the ground for enemies to implement their conspiracies.
