|PGCC statement meant to divert attention from realities: Iran||
TEHRAN – Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast said on Tuesday that the allegations made against Iran in the most recent statement of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council are meant to divert attention from public demands.
The PGCC, which groups Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, on Sunday repeated its allegation of Iranian “interference” in some of their internal issues, according to Al Arabiya.
Mehmanparast stated that the repetition of allegations of Iran’s interference will not change the realities on the ground.
The council also again voiced its backing of the UAE in a dispute with Iran over the three Persian Gulf islands of Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs.
Mehmanparast said the three mentioned Islands are “integral” parts of Iran’s territory.
