altTEHRAN -- Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has said that any fire sparked by the West’s incendiary actions in Syria will consume the Zionist regime.

It seems that the United States is insisting on “creating a hell” for itself and others in Syria, Larijani stated in a speech during an open session of the Majlis on Sunday.

“The fire that you ignite in the Levant will swallow the terrified Zionists. Although the Zionists have not watched their tongues (when talking) about Hezbollah and Iran over the past few days, the Zionists’ fear is palpable in those tough words,” he said, addressing the United States and its Western allies.

He added, “Kofi Annan’s resignation and U.S. officials’ contacts with certain politicians in the region and the military and arms support (for the Syrian rebels) meant to throw Syria into chaos is a sign of a new plan of international villains.”

Annan, the UN-Arab League joint special envoy on Syria, announced on August 3 that he would resign when his mandate expires on August 31.

Addressing the West, Larijani also said, “What has allowed these countries to meddle in Syria? At least obey your wishy-washy Security Council. When the Security Council has not adopted any resolution, your interference in Syria is nothing but international malevolence.”

“When the West does not abide by the mechanisms of international rights, why should others observe them? Thus, it is normal that the flames of the turmoil (in Syria) should be worrying for the Zionists,” he added.

“A few decades ago, almost to the day, the United States took the lives of hundreds of people through such malevolent acts. Today, it is maintaining its adventuristic attitude in another way, but it must be aware that the situation is different (now),” Larijani stated, referring to the atomic bombings of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and August 9, 1945.

“It was assumed that U.S. officials have a little bit of wisdom to learn a lesson from (their) malevolent behavior in Iraq and Afghanistan and Lebanon,” he added.

Larijani also said, “Meanwhile, the whining of certain discredited dictators in the region about democracy in Syria has become the West’s political comedy.

“We hope that the legitimate rights of regional countries will be (rescued) from the claws of these malign dictators that are subservient to the United States and that democracy will be realized so that these subservient dictators will witness the tragedy of their lives.”
