Loading, unloading of goods in Imam Khomeini port up 8% in 5 months on year

TEHRAN – The loading and unloading of goods in Imam Khomeini port, in the southwestern Khuzestan province, increased by eight percent during the five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-August 22), as compared to the same period of time in the past year.
As reported by the Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), over 8.28 million tons of commodities were loaded and unloaded in Imam Khomeini port during the first five months of the present year.
According to the PMO’s report, 7.112 million tons of basic commodities were unloaded in in the port in the mentioned five months.
Also, 37,149 TEUs of container goods were loaded and unloaded in Imam Khomeini port during the first five months of the current year, indication seven percent growth as compared to the first five months of the previous year, the report added.
