TEHRAN- Production of sponge iron in Iran during the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-September 22) rose 19 percent compared to the figure of the same period of time in the past year, the head of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), announced on Tuesday.

Mehdi Karbasian also said that steel ingot, iron pellet, and iron ore concentrate have experienced 14 percent, 38 percent, and 17 percent growth respectively, during the six-month period, IRNA reported.
