President Hassan Rouhani honors Quran activists

TEHRAN – President Hassan Rouhani honored several Quran activists and promoters of the Holy Quran during a special ceremony at Tehran’s Islamic Summit Conference Hall on Saturday.

Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Reza Salehi-Amiri, and a number of cultural officials attended the program. 

The honoring ceremony is part of an annual event held on the sidelines of the ongoing International Holy Quran Exhibition.

The twelve honorees were active in different courses including recitation, memorization, and translation of Holy Quran, and different sections such as management of Quranic organizations.

Reciter Mohammad Abolqasemi, memorizer Shoja Zoveidat, and the filmmaker of a documentary on religious scholar Allameh Mohammad-Taqi Jafari (1923-1998), Mohammad Davudi, were among the honorees.

Also included were Hojjatoleslam Jafar Kashfi, the calligrapher of Quranic verses, and Ayatollah Mohammad-Ali Gerami, the writer of several books on Islamic science. 

The 25th Quran exhibit will be running until June 16.
