“The Sis” named best at Afghanistan film festival

TEHRAN – Iranian director Marjan Ashrafizadeh’s “The Sis” won the best feature film award at the Fourth Afghanistan International Women’s Film Festival – Herat, which was held in Kabul from October 19 to 22.

The film is about Tala and Ati (Sis), a mother and daughter who have lived together for many years. Their situation, however, does not last forever, and the days of separation finally arrive.

The film will be competing in the Rome Independent Film Festival, which is scheduled to be held in the Italian capital from November 24 to December 2.

Camille Fontaine from France received the award for best director for “By Accident”.

“I’m a Happy Actress” by Afghan filmmaker Samereh Rezai was crowned best documentary while the award for best documentarian went to Shirin Barqnavard and Mohammad Reza Jahanpanah from Iran for “Scenes from a Divorce”.
