Prevailing Global Situation Demands R eadiness to Ward off Threats: Substitute Commander

TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency)--Brigadier General, Ali Shamshiri the substitute joint staff commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps(IRGC) here on Saturday said that the prevailing international situation requires the readiness of the armed forces, particularly IRGC and Basij (Volunteer Forces) in order to ward off threats.

Referring to the beginning of the Sacred Defense Week, he said to the reporters that the major slogan in connection to this week is the emphasis on the readiness of Guard Corps and Basiji forces in order to achieve an all-out defense of the country, Mehr News Agency reported.

“For this reason and due to the recent threats of enemies against the sacred Islamic Republic, the programs are influenced by such a situation,” he added.

Stressing the integrity and concord among the armed forces, he said, “The more coordinately armed forces act, the more successful they may be.

Expressing the fact that 450 exhibitions will be held on the occasion of the sacred defense week by the Basij Resistance Forces, he added that in each fair there will be a gallery named dialogue among generations as a response to the youth questions about the Sacred Defense.

In view of the fact that the week coincides with the anniversary of the birthday of Imam Hussein (AS), and the Guard Corps Day, he said on this occasion the IRGC will hold various programs in all parts of the country from Shahrivar 31 (September 22) for two weeks.
