TEHRAN President Seyed Mohammad Khatami here on Saturday said that a society in which due attention is paid to intellectuals will tread the path of dynamism and growth, adding that such a society enjoys a rich culture and civilization. President Khatami made the remark in a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Education and exemplary teachers on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari, emphasizing that thinkers should be respected instead of being isolated from the society.

He said that freedom of raising different questions, is one of the main characteristics of a civilized and dynamic society, adding that martyr Motahhari was a religious thinker, who by raising religious questions, tried to clarify issues related to his time. He called Motahhari the man of religion who paid due attention to religious questions. President Khatami further referred to the issues of Hijab, women's right, religious and traditional beliefs as some important issues reviewed by Martyr Motahhari, saying that if he was alive today, he could present most appropriate answers to the questions related to the above subjects.

President Khatami further termed students as the dearest human resources of the society and called on teachers to care for their questions and provide students with appropriate answers. He said that naming the martyrdom anniversary of Ayatollah Motahhari as the Teacher's Day indicates that teachers should learn from martyr Motahhari and follow his path. President Khatami underlined that the ground should be paved for all teachers and instructors in the society to promote their knowledge, saying that this would help the entire society to tread the path of dynamism and growth.
