Foreign surveillance drone crashes in Iran

A foreign surveillance drone has crashed in southwest Iran, the regional governor has told the Fars news agency.

It was not clear if the drone, which crashed near Shush city, in Khuzestan province on Friday, had been shot down by Iran or failed due to technical problems.
Iran has downed several U.S. drones over the last few years. In the most notable case the country announced on December 4, 2011 that its defense forces had downed a U.S. RQ-170 aircraft through a sophisticated cyber-attack. American officials described the loss of the aircraft as a setback and a blow to the stealth drone program.
